Apprenticeship

For Departments

The California Firefighter Joint Apprenticeship Committee is a standards-based apprenticeship program. Participating fire departments earn financial reimbursement by registering apprentices and giving them the training and experience required of a professional firefighter.

Instructor of Record

The Instructor of Record is appointed by the department and must meet the requirements to hold a current and valid Clear CA Teaching Credential or apply for an Adult Education Designated Subjects Teaching Credential.

Administrative Procedures

At the Cal-JAC, it's our goal to keep administrative procedures as simple as possible, while still complying with all state and federal laws and regulations governing apprenticeship.

SubJAC

Each participating department establishes a sub-committee (SubJAC) of the statewide Cal-JAC to implement the apprenticeship program in their department.

Training Coordinator

The Training Coordinator is appointed by the department and is the primary point of contact between the Cal-JAC and the department.
